A diploma in Nautical Science is referred to as DNS, and it is a 1-year diploma course for pre-sea training in the merchant navy. The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has approved the Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) program. An onboard training cadet must get an SSTP completion certificate from the institute after completing the required 18 months of training. - In some educational institutions, admission to the Diploma in Nautical Science is based on performance on prior exams.
